Mr. Niky Fabiancic
Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) and Resident Representative for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in the Dominican Republic.
Biographical Information
Niky Fabiancic is at the moment Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) and Resident Representative for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in the Dominican Republic. He has 20 years of experience in many subjects such as International Technical Cooperation, Sustainable Development and Management of Projects and Resources. In the last eight years, he has participated actively in the reform process of the UN headed by the UN Secretary-General. In addition, he represented the UNPD in many forums and international conferences in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and the United States of America.
He has an expertise in modernization of the State, strategic planning and use of new technologies to the service of the sustainable development. He has a master degree in Telecommunication Sciences and Computing Administration Systems, from the Polytechnical University of New York, and is an Engineer in Electronics and Electricity graduated of the University of Mendoza, Argentina, his native country.
He entered to the United Nations Development Program (UNPD) in 1985. During his career at the UNPD, he has designed and executed pilots and pre-investment programs that have allowed governments prepare, negotiate and to execute great development projects. Before working for the United Nations, he worked in Argentina for the Private Sector as well as to Government.
Before being assigned to the Dominican Republic, Mr. Fabiancic was in charge of the UNPD Office in Venezuela, heading the responsible team for the preparation of the Human Development Report 2000, dedicated to find the ways to surpass poverty. He impelled biosphere projects and humedales of the Delta of Orinoco, and led projects to improve the democratic governance supporting the creation of the defense office of the town, the qualification of judges, and the military and police corps in citizen attention in town hall.
